Work Mindfulness Institute™
Keith W. Fiveson · Mindfulness Coach · Contemplative Coach
Stress, trauma, and the patterns that keep us stuck are not mysteries. They are the nervous system doing exactly what it learned to do, and they can change. Keith brings a background in complex systems design and internet infrastructure to this work, along with over 30 years on the healing path, first as a client, then as a guide. He understands networks, external and internal, and what it takes to change how they route. This is coaching and contemplative support, not psychotherapy, medical care, or crisis care.
The Work Begins
A short introduction to the layers of this practice, where it starts, and where it leads.
The Mindfulness Experience (ME)
The ME Framework asks a deceptively simple question: where is your energy actually going? Eight dimensions, 3 aspired and 5 inspired, each feeding its opposite across the wheel, all meeting at Presence.

Tap any dimension on the wheel to begin
Each dimension feeds its opposite across the wheel, Aspiration needs Spirit, Environment provides Fuel, Mind needs Recharge, Body needs Relationships. All four meet at Presence, the center of it all.
3 Aspired · As Above, So Below
Your vision of who you are becoming, the animating force that pulls you forward into growth.
The external conditions, physical space, context, and the systems that shape your life from the outside.
The bonds and relational patterns that either nourish or deplete the whole system.
5 Inspired · Personal Domains
Attention, cognition, and the quality of your inner dialogue.
Nervous system regulation, movement, and somatic intelligence.
Meaning, connection, and the dimension that outlasts the urgent.
What you take in, nutrition, substance, the things that feed or deplete.
Rest, sleep, and the rhythm that allows renewal.
When I wrote The Mindfulness Experience, I was exploring a question that had followed me through decades of leadership, illness, and personal transformation: how do we live with steadiness in a world that constantly pulls us off center?
This book grew from my work in corporate leadership, yoga teaching, and contemplative practice. I had seen how stress erodes clarity, how distraction fragments attention, and how quickly we can lose connection to our bodies and values.
The eight strategies in this book are practical. They are designed to be lived, not merely understood. Breath, movement, nutrition, boundaries, environment, reflection. These are not abstract ideas. They are daily disciplines.
Years later, my work deepened into trauma integration and the exploration of exiled parts of the self. But the foundation remains the same: awareness precedes healing.
If you are beginning your journey into mindfulness, this book offers a grounded starting point.

return to the breath
A spiral, not a ladder.

Most approaches to stress or mental health move in a straight line: identify the problem, apply the intervention, resolve it. That's not how the human nervous system or psyche actually works. This practice is organized around a spiral, with the breath at the center. Each revolution returns to that center while moving to a deeper layer. You don't have to enter at the beginning. Most people arrive mid-spiral, and the work begins from exactly where they are.
Breath & Regulation
The breath is the only autonomic function you can consciously control, which makes it the original tool for nervous system regulation. Mindfulness, practiced rigorously, is how you learn to use it.
Stress & Its Signals
Stress is information, not weakness. It's the nervous system reporting that something, internal or systemic, is asking to be addressed. This work teaches you to hear that signal without being overwhelmed by it.
Trauma & the Inner World
Beneath chronic stress often lies something older. Trauma is the psyche's adaptive response to what was once overwhelming. The work goes there carefully, with skilled somatic awareness and genuine compassion.
Narrative & Parts
IFS-informed parts work helps us notice inner conflicts and the protective intentions behind them. Narrative inquiry lets us examine the stories those parts author, and begin writing different ones.
Expanded States
Some experiences live below language, in the body, in the nervous system, and in the preverbal territory where early experience settles. Preparation and integration support can help people approach expanded states with care, intention, and grounded reflection.
Skills & Self-Regulation
Insight without practice stays in the mind. This layer is where understanding becomes embodied, concrete tools for breath, grounding, emotional regulation, and nervous system recovery that you can use between sessions, in moments of activation, and over time as a daily practice. Harm reduction begins here.

The Sage
for Executives.
You have succeeded at everything that was supposed to matter, title, income, influence, the respect of peers. And yet there is a gap between that and how you actually feel that no next achievement seems to close.
You are not broken. You have simply outpaced the inner life. And the tools that got you here, strategy, discipline, optimization, cannot reach what is asking to be addressed.
What you need is not another coach with a framework. It is a Sage: someone who has traversed the territory, synthesized the maps, and can sit with you in the gap without needing to fill it with answers.
Keith brings thirty years at the intersection of systems thinking, contemplative practice, and trauma-informed depth work, first in the external world of technology and leadership, then in the inner world of the nervous system, the psyche, and the spirit. He does not offer optimization. He offers orientation.
What this work addresses
- The performance ceilingThe point where more of the same strategy yields less. Where the drive that built the career has become its own obstacle.
- The hollow at the centerSuccess without meaning. Accomplishment without felt satisfaction. The gap between external validation and interior aliveness.
- The cost of the armorThe adaptations that made you effective, control, self-sufficiency, the suppression of vulnerability, and what they have extracted over time.
- What comes nextNot retirement. Not reinvention. A different quality of presence, in leadership, in relationship, in your own inner life.
Individual Coaching
Mindfulness life coaching that goes where most life coaching doesn't, into stress, trauma, and the patterns underneath. One person. Their full story. Over 30 years on the healing path, as client, student, and guide, meeting exactly where they are, not where it would be more comfortable to begin.
- Veterans and first responders carrying PTSD, moral injury, and the particular grief of reintegration, supported by someone who has served and carries that knowledge firsthand.
- IFS-informed, somatic, and neuroscience-grounded work, not a single modality but an integrated practice that meets the whole person.
- Psychedelic preparation and integration coaching, informed by the ethical grounding and rigorous training of a PATP trained through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI) and the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS).
Organizational Programs
Organizations don't suffer. People within them do. When those people are genuinely resourced, not just given tools, but actually helped to regulate and connect, performance follows.
- Science-based mindfulness programs that build real nervous system regulation, not relaxation exercises, but durable capacity for stress and uncertainty.
- Leadership coaching that addresses the inner landscape, the identity pressures, the relational patterns, the burnout that conventional development doesn't reach.
- Practical, measurable, and evidence-informed. No wellness trends. No false positivity. The real thing, because your team deserves it.

Psychedelic Preparation & Integration Support
Some experiences live below language. Keith is a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider (PATP), MAPS & IPI trained, and serves on the Advisory Board of the End of Life Psychedelic Care Association. He offers preparation and integration coaching; clinical treatment, medication, dosing, and monitoring remain with appropriately licensed providers.
There is a deeper dimension, if you want it.
The science is solid and it's enough. But some people arrive at a point in this work where the questions stop being psychological and become existential, questions of meaning, of mortality, of what is sacred. Keith holds a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and is ordained as an Interfaith Minister. That dimension of the work is available for those drawn to it. It is never imposed.
